The changeover – autumn and winter events

By 21/05/2017Company news

It’s already been an extraordinary summer for GL events and I couldn’t feel more proud about our business, our people and, of course, our customers. It feels like so much time has already passed since we marvelled at the Cheltenham Festival, and it won’t be long until we’re in the thick of another great British season of sporting and festival events: Royal Ascot, The Open, Silverstone, Goodwood and Hay Festival are all well within our sights.

However, while our project management team is still firmly focused on the summer; many of us now look ahead to the changeover, when the summer season gives way to autumn and winter events, and a different, yet still exhilarating season of events come around.

We recently shared news of new RFID technology that will track GL events UK’s materials and products around the country. This system will oversee products returning to GL events UK headquarters for cleaning, refreshing and replacement. This reminds me of just how flexible our temporary structures and event seating solutions have become. Kit that was used just weeks ago to provide infrastructure for major sporting and outdoor experiences will play its part in producing conference spaces, awards and banqueting venues, sites for brand and experiential activations.

The same event hire products that keep spectators cool in the summer, will be repurposed to provide intimate, hospitable, creative and exciting venues for different types of event. Last year we worked with some major businesses and brands, from world-leading venues like ACC Liverpool, Tobacco Dock and the NEC; to creative and experiential agencies, delivering entire temporary venues to enable their creative vision. From colleges and universities, to UK-wide themed party giants and the 10th annual Hyde Park Winter Wonderland.

More and more businesses are looking at incorporating temporary structures into their events. Not only because they have the creative skills to turn them into extraordinary spaces; but because we enable them to purpose-build their ideal venue, wherever and whenever they want it.

For me, while the summer season brings amazing occasions of prestige, heritage, and sheer sporting excitement; autumn and winter are all about creativity and hospitality. Whatever the season, though, we work with some of the most inspiring event organisers on the planet. I can’t wait to see what they come up with this year.
