Cheese show’s biggest-ever line-up prompts GL events to make more space at Nantwich

Marquee supplier, GL events UK has increased the size of the main hall at this week’s International Nantwich Cheese Awards by a fifth after the organisers received more entries than ever before.

The awards, which form part of the Nantwich Show and International Cheese Show, are the biggest event of their kind in the world and this year have attracted a record 3,926 entries from 24 different countries.

GL events UK has supplied the awards’ main venue, which has an aluminium frame and is temperature-controlled inside, since 2006, and it has grown in size nearly every year. This time, it has been increased by an extra 1,000sqm, expanding from 4,600sqm to 5,600sqm, to accommodate the extra entrants.

In total, GL events supplies around 11,600sqm worth of structures for both shows, which take place at Dortford Park.

They include hospitality structures for VIP guests, an 8,100 sq ft food pavilion and four large traditional pole marquees to house cattle, poultry, honey and crafts displays.

Keith Bishop, Director at GL events UK, said: “Both shows are extremely popular, but the International Cheese Awards is a world-class event that keeps on getting bigger every year.

“This year is no exception, and we were very happy to increase our structure to accommodate the extra entries.”
