Temporary structure suppliers GL events Owen Brown helped Epsom racecourse to accommodate thousands of spectators, including Her Majesty the Queen, attending the Investec Derby Festival after supplying 2,750sqm of extra space.

The company had spent nearly a month erecting dozens of temporary structures across the Surrey racecourse, ready for the influx of 120,000 race-goers over the course of the three-day event last week.

Its structures were used for a wide range of purposes and included the Prince’s Lawn and Winning Post hospitality suites, both of which were erected on top of scaffolding to offer race-goers the best possible views over the course.

Elsewhere, it also supplied extra hospitality space alongside the course’s famous Tattenham Straight and at the Parade Ring, where it created the Camelot Bar and Bistro by installing a 12m Absolute structure with a distinctive twin-peaked roof design, a new roof style which was added to the Absolute range last year.

Owen Brown’s sister company, GL events Snowdens, also supplied more than 2,000sqm worth of marquees for additional public areas at the Festival.
