In June 2018 GL events UK provided temporary grandstand seating for eight separate Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) venues in the UK, from Eastbourne to Ilkley, totalling 10,943 seats.
The Nature Valley Classic, held at Edgbaston Priory Club, is a Premier Level Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) tournament which attracts world-class payers. It’s one of the biggest fixtures in the LTA International series. At Edgbaston GL events UK installed spectator seating and created seven structures used for hospitality, catering, retail and a children’s marquee.
The 165 sqm grass decked area, just in front of the food and refreshment marquee, had outdoor tables and chairs to allow customers to eat and drink in comfort and enjoy the views. This decked area was finished off at the front with a unique integrated glass handrail system, providing great unrestricted viewing to court one below. This innovative glass handrail design was introduced for the first time in 2017. Beyond the handrail two staircases were built into the platform to allow easy access to the seating overlooking court one.
Seating was supplied for the four grandstands around centre court plus court one. All seats had 500mm rise, two per row, giving excellent sight lines to the player action.
In just seven days GL installed 1,900 seats, 1,079 sqm of structures and laid 324 sqm of public decking.
The Nature Valley Classic tournament took place over nine days from 16th – 24th June and was enjoyed by more than 200,000 visitors.
