GL events UK Group has won a competitive tender process to secure a new three-year contract to supply a range of temporary structures and marquees to Epsom Downs Racecourse’s Investec Derby Festival.

Two divisions of GL events UK Group – Owen Brown and Snowdens – will work together to create over 5,500 square metres of additional facilities ready for the influx of 120,000 race-goers over the course of the three-day event.

Owen Brown will spend around four weeks installing a number of temporary structures from its Absolute and Premier ranges including the Tattenham Straight hospitality marquee, positioned alongside the home straight, and the new for 2014 Chez Roux on the Princes Lawn restaurant, overlooking the winning post.

The Camelot Bar and Bistro returns to the Parade Ring with its distinctive twin-peaked roof design while an additional curved roof structure offers both a private hospitality facility as well as acting as the media centre by the winning post.

Simon Durrant, General Manager of Epsom Downs Racecourse, said: “We are delighted to continue to work with GL events on the continued development of the Investec Derby Festival. We have a strong working relationship and the structures they bring blend perfectly with the atmosphere of the festival and add to our guests fantastic visitor experience.”

Keith Bishop, Director of GL events UK Group, said: “Having worked with the Investec Derby Festival for the past twelve years, this new contract re-affirms our relationship as well as recognising the quality of our equipment and finish. We are delighted to be able to continue to work with the organisers to support this fantastic event.”

GL events UK division Snowdens will provide a 750 square metre soft sided marquee used for spectators in the Tattenham Enclosure.

Snowdens will also create a number of support buildings for use by the various agencies that support the event including briefing rooms, control centres, canteens and administration areas.
