GL events UK picks up award for Global Sustainability

GL events UK picked up the highly coveted ‘Best Commitment to Sustainability’ award at the Major Events International (MEI) annual Major Events Summit and Awards, which took place in Liverpool as part of the Festival of Business, also taking place in the city.

The award follows a number of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and ‘green’ related initiatives the company has been running both internally and on behalf of the wider events community. GL events UK has presented the growing importance of sustainability issues amongst its corporate clients, working in major events, to the industry and launched a survey in the summer to gain more information on the topic.

“It was a unanimous decision that GL events UK should be awarded the MEI Member prize for “Best Commitment to Sustainability, in supply of event infrastructure and overlay’” commented Dennis Mills, CEO of Major Events International. “Sustainability is key to the International Olympic Organisation’s core values and a vital part of all major sports events. GL events UK has led the way for temporary overlay and event infrastructure and has successfully delivered support to some of the most iconic events globally, over many years.”

“We are delighted to recognise this achievement and contribution by GL events UK, and that Patrick Kidd, Chief Executive Officer for the Invictus Games, was available to present the award during Major Events International’s Awards Dinner at Anfield, home to Liverpool Football Club,” added Patrick.
