GL events UK has announced the appointment of Darren Woodhouse as Operations Director of its UK brands, in a series of new recruits that the company sees as the stimulus for further growth within its business.

Woodhouse re joins the company’s UK operation, having spent the last six years leading its Middle East business as General Manager. Woodhouse comes with over 30 years’ experience in the events industry, 16 of it with GL events. His experience has included delivering structures for events including the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games, RHS Chelsea, Hampton Court & Tatton Park, the Dubai Tour, the Dubai World Championships, London 2012, UEFA European Championships, FIFA World Cup, Goodwood Festival of Speed & Revival and PGA European Tour.

“More and more event organisers are looking for relationships that they trust will deliver their vision with absolute excellence every time; and we want the best operational team here with us in the UK to ensure we continue to deliver this,” comments Scott Jameson, Managing Director, GL events UK. “Event organisers trust the temporary structure market because we’ve delivered again and again over the years; now we’re encouraging them to challenge us to create their venue whenever and wherever they want it.”

Darren joined the business earlier in April 16, and heads up an operational team of experienced event professionals, he commented: “The UK market is leading the world in terms of its ambition and creativity for events. I want us to be the ‘yes men’ of the industry, capable of creating the right environment for them wherever it may be.”
