Pole position views from the new Landostand

GL events are delighted to have delivered three temporary grandstands at Silverstone for 2026, providing over 5,650 seats across multiple areas of the track to maximise spectator viewpoints. 

A unique addition for this season, GL events is also proud to have delivered the ‘Landostand’, a semi-permanent grandstand designed to become a long-term feature at Silverstone, created in celebration of McLaren and Lando Norris’ recent successes, following his incredible 2025 racing season and Drivers’ Championship title. 

Welcoming over 550,000 fans across a four-day festival, Silverstone reflects Formula 1’s global surge in popularity, now reaching over 800 million fans worldwide. Silverstone required a next-generation, high-capacity grandstand that could unite thousands of fans, deliver premium seating standards, and amplify the atmosphere of Silverstone’s biggest race weekend. 

Stretching approximately a quarter of a mile, wrapping around the curvature of ‘Stowe Corner’, the Lando Stand rises 15m tall to the back row and provides seated accommodation for 16,373 avid racing fans. It is the largest single grandstand structure delivered by GL events and the largest grandstand structure at Silverstone, offering uninterrupted, premium sightlines across the racetrack, with a 333mm seating rise.

In addition to standard seating, the stand offers two accessible viewing platforms accommodating 80 accessible spaces and companions, 4 disabled ramps, and 6 custom-built disabled-access toilet facilities, upholding top Green Guide industry accessibility requirements. 

GL events worked closely with the team at Silverstone from conceptualisation through to delivery, designing an all-aluminium temporary grandstand structure that was built to last and erected in just 80 days to ensure handover before the 2026 British Grand Prix. As the popularity of Formula 1 continues to grow, the stand is futureproofed thanks to the possibility of extension across width and height.

Fans will live every overtake, feel every cheer, and see every race-defining moment surrounded by thousands of fellow Lando fans.

Although impressive by its size alone, the Lando Stand is unmistakable thanks to its notable branding, attached to the stand via weatherproof tensioned mesh featuring Lando Norris’ emblem, a Great Britain flag and Silverstone’s logo in a true celebration of British racing icons. 

The new Lando Stand was built to replace four existing grandstands in the same area of the circuit and double spectator capacity. Its development was made possible through close collaboration with Silverstone and the Lando Norris team, whose vision we have brought to life.

Replacing the existing structures on such a large scale presented several challenges for site teams, from manufacturing of construction elements through to advanced crowd modelling and visitor flow mapping, health and safety, and risk mitigation. As principal contractor on site, GL events managed all health and safety consultations in-house.
