Ascot was established by Queen Anne in 1711 and is one of the most famous and popular racecourses in Britain.  Royal Ascot is a special week that takes place at the racecourse in the summer, in the presence of Her Majesty The Queen and welcomes about 300,000 visitors over five days.

For this spectacular heritage event, GL events UK has been contracted by Ascot Racecourse to provide temporary infrastructure for well in excess of 20 years, providing a range of bespoke, premium facilities for visitors, owners, trainers, and representatives of Her Majesty the Queen.

Each structure is required to provide dedicated facilities, such as hospitality, several public restaurants and bars, ticket offices, and a helipad collection facility. In addition, the delivery extends to the interior and ancillaries of the structures including air conditioning, toilet facilities, fire alarms, lighting, power distribution, timber cladding and staircases.

For the 2022 event, the resulting build solution was a multitude of Absolute Apex and Ultimate structures, including a 15m x 20m Dorchester Grill and a 6m x 6m Lavender Courtyard hospitality suite. Furthermore, four Multi-Decks, including 15m x 45m Garick and Whites, 15m x 45m Wyndhams, 12m x 40m Turf and Norfolk, and Holyrood, and 15m x 20m Pavilion Lawn 1768. The total area of the infrastructures spanned across 7430 square meters.

The GL events UK team combined their knowledge and experience to overcome the complexity of the hospitality structure layout and the geography of the racecourse by using ingenious and innovative solutions. In the best interests of the client, GL events UK incorporated custom modifications to three structures to accommodate mature trees on site.  Two of the structures, including one multi-deck structure, were constructed around embedded trees. As a result, this enhanced the structures and, once again, enabled GL events UK to push the boundaries in the events industry.
