Anglia Ruskin University hosts two graduation ceremonies; one at the East Road Campus and one on Rivermead Meadow, an open space on its campus in Chelmsford, Essex.


Since 2010 we have provided a temporary structure for the Chelmsford campus to accommodate 1,000 people – including a host of famous faces receiving honorary degrees.

The contract not only required us to provide an auditorium, but also an entrance structure and VIP area, as well as installing all the seating, flooring, stage, AV system and ancillary products for the three-day ceremony.


The temporary structures for the ceremony totaled 1,345sqm, made up of three Premier structures, including a 1,000sqm hard-sided temporary structure for the auditorium itself.

In addition, we provided:

  • 270 tip-up tiered seats and 750 tip-up seats on the flat, supplied by our sister company GL events Slick Seating
  • Additional furniture, including 200 banqueting chairs for the stage, trestle tables, coffee tables and leather sofas
  • A 120sqm stage, with steps and ramps
  • AV equipment: full audio visual including screens, plasmas, camera work and recording facilities
  • Lighting, including full stage, house and emergency.

  • Screening


The auditorium proved a worthy venue for a ceremony which has grown to enjoy a high profile, thanks to the awards of honorary doctorates to stars including singer Kylie Minogue, novelist Jilly Cooper, swimmerMark Foster and handbag designer Anya Hindmarch.
