Temporary seating for Bristol Aztecs

The Bristol Aztecs play their matches at Dings Crusaders' home ground, Shaftesbury Park. They are a new client for GL events in 2026, with a brief to deliver temporary, tiered spectator seating to increase capacity to comply with the requirements of the Central European Football League.   

GL events UK provides temporary seating, grandstands and flat floor seating to events and teams across the UK. As a result, our Project Managers have gained a wealth of experience in designing solutions that seamlessly integrate with existing stadium seating. 

Working closely with the club, our team assessed the available pitch-side space and identified optimal locations for temporary spectator seating, paying particular attention to the placement of larger seating areas around the home team dugout to create a stronger atmosphere and get fans closer to the heart of the action.  

Installing seating for the thousands of spectators attending the 2024 Summer Olympics was a complex and intricate task. Working with Hall Expo and GL events group, GL events UK were appointed to design the grandstands and supply the equipment to build them on. 

GL events UK supplied and installed three temporary grandstands, delivering a total of 1,257 spectator seats across the stadium. The seating configuration included: 

Two linked grandstands positioned along the main touchline near the home team area.

An additional grandstand located behind the end zone. 

Raised seating with a 333mm rise configuration to optimise sightlines and spectator visibility.

Sufficient clearance to ensure seated spectators maintained clear views even when supporters were standing pitch-side.

GL events provided expert guidance throughout the planning process, using proposal drawings and sightline studies to present a solution that guaranteed spectator comfort whilst accommodating the operational constraints of the venue. 

Installation was completed in just three days, ensuring the venue was match-ready ahead of the Aztecs’ opening fixtures.  

The project team overcame several logistical challenges during the build, including restricted unloading access and the need to transport materials around active grass pitches without causing surface damage. Careful site management and favourable weather conditions enabled the installation to progress smoothly and efficiently. To ensure safety throughout the season, GL events is committed to regular interim inspections and maintenance as required. 

The success of the installation has already generated further interest from other sports organisations using the venue, including Bristol Bears Women, who have explored options for additional covered seating solutions.  

For GL events UK, the project demonstrates the value of combining technical expertise, collaborative planning and delivery expertise to help sports clubs adapt quickly to growth and changing competition requirements enabling increased revenue and compliance with league seating regulations.
