New Wine Conference

Every summer, thousands of church leaders and worshippers from all over the country descend on the Royal Bath and West Showground for New Wine’s annual conference.

Requirement

The Christian conference required marquees to house various activities that take place during the 14-day music and worship event.

Structure

A wide range of temporary structures were supplied for New Wine, including giant structures, clearspan marquees and hard-sided pavilions.  These were used to create several cafes, a food court and various seminar spaces.

Notable temporary structures included:

  • Main arena – 50m x 50m Giant pavilion
  • Area 2 – 30m x 30m Giant pavilion
  • Food Court – 500sqm aluminium framed clearspan marquee
  • Bible Society café – 16m x 30m blackout frame marquee

Challenge

Creating temporary structures for a gathering the size of New Wine was a challenge that involved managing a large number of men who were building four venues over a 10-day period.

Outcome

Once again, New Wine was a great success. At one stage there were around 50 workers on site but, thanks to GL events UK’s experience of working on large scale events, everything went smoothly and the client was looking forward to doing it all again the next year.
