GL events UK enjoys strong credentials in world-class sport, and particularly in the world of golf, where we are proud to support tournaments including The Open and Ryder Cup with premium temporary infrastructure and overlay.
We have supplied temporary event infrastructure to The Celebrity Cup at The Celtic Manor Resort since 2013. GL events began its relationship with the resort’s event team during our support of the Ryder Cup 2010, which was hosted by Celtic Manor. The partnership evolved when we constructed the main exhibitors’ hall at Golf Live, then the world’s biggest interactive golf show, which took place at the resort in May 2013. We supplied grandstands, as well as 2,000sqm of temporary event space: in addition to the main exhibition hall, we created stands for more than 100 exhibitors. It was here that Celtic Manor launched its Celebrity Cup, where teams representing England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales competed, including Sir Steve Redgrave, Jodie Kidd, Rob Brydon and Kenny Dalglish, and overseen by hosts Ant and Dec.
Since its debut, GL events has worked with organisers of The Celebrity Cup to develop the best possible quality audience viewing infrastructure around the event. This has traditionally comprised of two grandstands, seating 300 spectators on 18th Green and 10th Tee. This year, to support a remodelling of the Green, we amended our 10th Tee grandstand, reducing the height of the grandstand structure but adding a row to the rear, to maintain capacity while introducing a slightly increased rise that meant higher sight-lines for spectators.
We look forward to returning to The Celtic Manor every year and enjoy the ongoing collaboration. With plenty of planning and communication, we continue to create fantastic spectator infrastructure and a smart backdrop to the event, while enabling business as usual for golfers and guests at this live, ever-popular resort.
