GL events has had a busy start to the tennis season supplying temporary structures and seating at venues across the UK for the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA).
GL events UK won a four-year contract in 2014 to supply the LTA with equipment from the Owen Brown structure division, Seating and Stadia, its tiered seating division, and its marquee division Snowdens.
This joint venture has seen the divisions working together to deliver at the Aegon Classic Birmingham, Aegon International Eastbourne, Aegon Open Nottingham, Aegon Surbiton Trophy, Aegon Ilkley Trophy, and the Aegon Manchester Trophy.
For the Aegon Classic Birmingham, one of this year’s earlier opportunities for female players to compete on grass courts, GL events Owen Brown is focusing on supplying a complete solution for the event’s hospitality facilities. This includes a range of structures used for the corporate and player hospitality as well as spectators’ catering and various retail outlets.
Meanwhile for the Aegon International Eastbourne, which attracts some of the world’s top female tennis players making their final preparations before Wimbledon, which begins the week after, GL events Snowdens is responsible for the marquees used for trade stands and info points around the venue as well as a very complex seating structure.
GL events Seating and Stadia provided a temporary seating stand at Edgbaston while at Eastbourne, it provided a new temporary seating stand for the tournament.
Slightly closer to home, GL events Owen Brown has provided a variety of structures at Nottingham Tennis Centre where it will proudly host the Aegon Open Nottingham which includes the women’s WTA event (6 to 14 June) and the men’s ATP event (20 to 27 June). The team has provided Hospitality & Corporate Dining structures, a Public Restaurant area, Trade Stand Retail Units, a Children’s Structure, Temporary Toilet Facilities, and even 2 65 sqm Wet Weather Giulio Barbieri Piazza Hexagon Pagodas for the inclement great British weather!
