GL events continues Cheltenham build following Showcase meet

GL events UK will continue its relationship with Cheltenham Racecourse following its Showcase meet. The partnership will once again see the brand implement its six-month, phased build at the course. This will include the construction of a wide range of temporary event structures, with further infrastructure being added throughout the Autumn and Winter; culminating in the iconic Cheltenham Festival.

The first phase of the build was installed ready for Cheltenham’s Showcase meet, which took place 27 and 28 October, and included trade stands, double-decked hospitality and private boxes, as well as supporting event infrastructure including the main ticket office. GL events also supplied interiors, flooring, furniture, toilets, lighting, heating and décor within its structures as part of the agreement. More than 20,000sqm of temporary event space will continue to be added throughout the course; with GL events’ delivery increasing to accommodate Cheltenham Racecourse’s popular race meetings throughout the remainder of the year and into 2018.

Last year, Jockey Club Racecourses expanded its partnership with GL events, looking to build on the quality and breadth of structures across its courses. The multi-year agreement saw a 50 per cent growth in GL events’ activity at the course, with new additions once again this season.

“This is a really exciting contract for us. Jockey Club Racecourses have exceptionally high standards and we deliver the very best for them, both in terms of our product and the management of the build,” commented Scott Jameson, GL events UK Group Managing Director. “We continue to invest in our product and we have a growing team of the very best project managers around, all of whom know the course exceptionally well and look forward to building on such an exceptional venue.”

Last year GL events built structures for the media centre, food court, hospitality chalets and corporate hospitality at Cheltenham, as well as a number of retail and trade stand areas around the racecourse. This year’s installations will range from smaller, boutique areas, to balconied, multi-storey double- and triple-decked venues, offering elevated views of the action.
