After a first successful year, GL events has seen auction house Bonhams bring the hammer down, securing a five-year contract to supply temporary structures for its motoring auctions at events such as Goodwood’s Festival of Speed, Revival and the forthcoming 73rd Members Meeting as well as Beaulieu’s huge autumn Autojumble and various other locations throughout the year.

GL events started working with Bonhams in 2014, providing a 2,400 square metre structure for the sale at the Festival of Speed that was built on the private side of Goodwood House. The structure was then transformed in the evening for Lord March’s exclusive ball.

Managing Director Scott Hayward explains: “We performed beyond expectations on the first event so Bonhams invited us to quote for another large structure to be used at Goodwood Revival, this time spanning over 3,000 square metres. Another success resulted in more structures at more locations.

“By the end of the year, we had created a strong business relationship founded on our reliability, flexibility and quality of service and we are delighted to be working together for another 5 years.”

The new contract sees an additional large span structure for a brand new sale in Bonhams’ calendar at Goodwood’s 73rd Member’s Meeting, held 21st and 22nd March. The structure, located in the Chicane Paddock of the Goodwood Motor Circuit, will house more than 50 sports, touring and classic cars that will be auctioned including a 1955 Frazer Nash Le Mans Coupé, estimated to sell for between £600,000 – £700,000.

The Bonhams Motoring department is the largest auction house to hold auction sales of classic cars, motorcycles and related memorabilia. The auctions are held globally at some of the most premier locations in conjunction with internationally renowned motoring events.
