GL events UK Group has won a new four-year contract with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) to supply equipment from the Owen Brown structure division, GL events Seating and Stadia, its tiered seating division, and its marquee division Snowdens.

This joint venture will see structures and seating delivered at Edgbaston’s Aegon Classic and Eastbourne’s Aegon International, both of which are held in June.

For the Aegon Classic, the year’s first opportunity for the leading players in women’s tennis to compete on grass courts, GL events UK Group is focusing on supplying a complete solution for the event’s hospitality facilities. This includes a range of structures used for the corporate and player hospitality as well as spectators’ catering and various retail outlets.

Meanwhile for the Aegon International, which attracts some of the world’s top male and female tennis players making their final preparations before Wimbledon, which begins the week after, GL events UK Group is responsible for the marquees used for trade stands and info points around the venue as well as a very complex seating structure.

GL events Seating and Stadia will provide a temporary seating stand at Edgbaston while at Eastbourne, it will provide a new temporary seating stand for the tournament as well as replacing 3000 of the permanent seats.

Steve Shaw, Sales Director for GL events Seating and Stadia, comments: “Eastbourne is a more complex installation than most, the temporary seating stand needs to fit seamlessly with the permanent seating they already have at this venue. All the steps and aisles will line-up to create a seamless transition between the temporary and the permanent seating. The new stand is to be built over an existing walkway and permanent buildings so all the structural loads need to be put through the existing building. We are looking forward to commencing work on this project and are delighted to be installing both temporary and permanent seats.”

Gavin Fletcher, Aegon Tournament Director, said: ”I am delighted that the LTA has awarded the contract to supply temporary seating and structures at the Aegon International Eastbourne and Aegon Classic Edgbaston to GL events UK Group.

Having worked with their UK group structure divisions Owen Brown and Snowdens for many years, I am confident in their ability to supply us with quality equipment to compliment our offer in providing the best visitor/spectator experience possible. I am looking forward to continuing this relationship over the next four years.”
