Nottingham City Centre was at the height of fashion at the weekend as the 48 hours of Fashion event took over Old Market Square with GL events providing a temporary structure to house numerous catwalk shows featuring leading designer names.

The catwalk shows began on Friday 13th March, with performances every hour from 12pm through to 6pm, and then continued on Saturday 14th from 11am until 5pm. Featuring well-known national retailers and a wealth of fantastic independents, 48 Hours of Fashion has become the annual fashion fixture in the style diaries of the East Midlands.

Taking just under 500 square metres of space, the main Absolute Eclipse structure also hosted masterclasses from leading retailers including Boots and make-up brand Smashbox. 240 outfits were needed for the event in total across Friday and Saturday, which was free to the public.

With ten models on-stage and six scenes in each show, each representing a different event that takes place annually around Nottinghamshire. This included Game City, Nottingham Riviera, sporting events, Splendour Festival, Wollaton Hall and Light Night.

Now in it’s third year, the 48 Hours of Fashion event is organised by the Nottingham Business Improvement District (BID), to raise awareness of retailers and businesses in the city.

Nottingham BID Chairman Jeff Allen said: “Bigger and better than last year, it’s good to show off the retailers in Nottingham and the clothes that people want to buy. Nottingham has a great vibrant city centre.”
