Temporary structure suppliers GL events Owen Brown has extended its long association with the Formula One British Grand Prix after agreeing a new deal with Silverstone.

The company, which provides around 20,000sqm for the event each year, has signed a three-year contract that will see it continue to supply the Grand Prix until 2015.

Owen Brown, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, first worked at the Grand Prix in 1950, when it supplied six beer tents to Silverstone.

Nowadays, its commitment is much larger and includes the Silverstone Six hospitality village, a temporary structure for Club Silverstone at Becketts and the Lakeside Drivers Lounge.

The company also increased its presence at Silverstone this year by supplying a double deck structure exclusively for the members of the British Racing Drivers’ Club, at Farm Lawn.

Richard Phillips, Managing Director of Silverstone Circuit, said: “We have enjoyed a long working relationship with Owen Brown and they are consistent in offering us the standard of service we require at competitive prices.

“I am delighted to be in a position to extend the contract for another three years.”

James Anderson, commercial director at GL events Owen Brown, said: “The British Grand Prix has played an important part in the history of our company and it is fitting that we are extending our long relationship with Silverstone in our centenary year.

“Luxury hospitality is a key element of the British Grand Prix experience and the fact that we added a double deck structure to our provision at Silverstone this year is extremely encouraging.”

Stuart Pringle, Club Secretary of the BRDC, said that the double deck had proved to be a success.

He said: “We decided to use a double deck marquee at the British Grand Prix this year in order to maximise wet weather protection and improve the viewing of the race.

“The result was a fantastic structure, which exceed my expectations and greatly enhanced our members’ day. I was very impressed by the quality of the structure and the speed of build, not to mention the dramatic positive effect it had on everyone’s enjoyment of the race.”

Owen Brown’s products – including the double deck – were once again out in force at Silverstone last weekend after it supplied around 1,500sqm worth of temporary structures for the Silverstone Classic car festival.
