GL events has extended a partnership with The R&A that will see the business deliver seating at The Open for the next four years. The agreement continues to compliment the company’s already comprehensive summer and sporting event portfolio.
The partnership will see GL events construct grandstands at The 146th Open at Royal Birkdale where work has already begun. The build includes the creation of the 18th grandstand arena, where thousands of fans will be seated under the iconic yellow leader boards and watch the drama unfold on the closing hole.
Furthermore, after the successful trial at Royal Troon last year, the company will also be installing viewing platforms for over 2,000 spectators as well as a 1,000 seat wrap around amphitheatre at the par 3 14th hole
Following the summer, the partnership will continue through to 2020 and see GL events support the Championship’s historic returns to Carnoustie, Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland and Royal St George’s.
