Quality at every level in our commitment to the industry

By 19/03/2018Company news

One of the privileges of being part of such a diverse and global business is the sheer breadth of events with which we get to partner. Our highly-prized position allows the team at GL events to see newly-conceived ideas grow into outstanding event brands. We watch internationally-renowned sporting events evolve, supporting their development, and we work with new events ranging from the micro to the massive.

This incredibly diverse range, as well as our privilege, is reflected every day throughout GL events’ work in an events industry where ‘the season’ never stops. It’s reflected in our evolving partnership with Jockey Club Racecourses, whose recent Cheltenham Festival was one of the best yet; in our seating installations for events like the AJ Bell PSA World Squash Championships, and in our ongoing efforts to support new events and event organisers through initiatives like our How-to Guide for newcomers to the industry.

As ever, the key to success is supporting every different event with the same commitment to quality. This summer, we will deliver European athletics event partnerships that benefit from GL events’ wealth of experience in supporting Olympic and Commonwealth Games around the world. Not least, we will call upon our experience of delivering a total infrastructure solution last year’s IAAF and IPC World Championships, London 2017. It’s always exciting when organisers put their faith in our business to install a layer of temporary infrastructure over a city, bringing it to life with creative design solutions.

Sport is big business and as squash grows in popularity, with spectators from around the planet expecting an increasingly superior live event experience, it’s testament to GL events’ reputation that we were appointed to create suitably impressive live audience infrastructure for the AJ Bell PSA World Squash Championships. It’s great to see our product in place, on-brand, and creating great views with maximum comfort for every guest.

Whatever the event, we’ve noticed the growing status of sustainability on the agendas of clients representing a wide range of sectors. Sustainability matters, from the creation of community benefits to carbon-reduction, increasingly feature in event organisers’ briefs and invitations to tender and, for us at GL events UK, sustainability is a core commitment, one that we track throughout our entire supply chain as part of our quality process. We’d be interested to know your thoughts, and invite you to complete our two-minute survey, which can be accessed here.

Finally, we continue to value and nurture new event entrepreneurs. We’re proud of our How-to Guide, and grateful to the many expert contributors to our engaging introduction to the world of events. Have you ever felt that the industry would rather frighten off new event organisers, instead of embracing and enabling them? Creative entrepreneurs occupy the heart of this industry. They are the future and we’re committed to supporting them; in fact, we see it as our responsibility.

It’s been an energetic start to the year for GL events. Our commercial team is out and about in the industry more than ever, and we enjoyed seeing many of you at the Event Production Show last month. You can read Commercial Director, David Tunnicliffe’s reflections on his conversations during the show here and, of course, you can contact GL events any time to talk about your event plans!
